From its earliest days, the Desert Protective Council has worked to increase understanding and appreciation of desert environments. Through our educational bulletins we bring a wealth of knowledge about deserts to our members and to libraries across the west. We sponsor art exhibits featuring desert photography, and publish the work of desert writers. Through grants to the Anza-Borrego Foundation and Institute, we help to introduce the desert to hundreds of school children from Imperial County. With our website, we reach both children and adults worldwide. In the future, we plan to develop our own outdoor education programs in Imperial County.
